Surround Maps
This map shows the scores for “Bad Surrounding”. The white shading indicates a large score, and darker shading indicates a lower score. “Good” and “Bad” are relative names, as bad for residential may be good for industrial.

The user can define a series of surround maps. Other examples may be surrounding water and surrounding existing industrial.
The surround maps are used in the preference calculations for each land-use class. For example, the residential class would have a positive preference factor for surrounding parks and water. Industrial would have negative preference factors for parks, but may have positive factors for water.
